Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education

To advise the State Government on the Policy matters regarding Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
To help maintain the equivalence of Standard in education provided in Secondary and Higher Secondary schools.
To help maintain co-ordination of the policies of the nation as well as the State regarding Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
To help maintain proper co-ordination in the Primary Education, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education as well as University (Higher).
To approve and sanction textbooks.
To specify the financial policies regarding the functioning of the Board and take decisions about the same.
To introduce and award scholarships, stipends, medals, prizes and awards and regulate conditions for them.
To conduct general observation of the working of the Divisional Boards and supervise them. Conduct periodical observation of their accounts.
Encourage research work in Educational innovations.
